THE DAILY NUBB

March Madness is upon us….

….and I’ve got just one thing to say: BRING IT ON! Look, Bigs and I are both huge sports fans, so we’re what you might call a “warm audience” for a heavyweight sporting event. But THIS event, the one that’s coming at us later this week?? UNMATCHED in all of sports for us.

Worth special attention: the first two days of the real first round. From brunch to midnight, nothing but top-shelf ball. 16 games per day. 64 teams fighting for their competitive lives, tilting with monsters (and maybe their own demons), clawing and scratching to advance just one more round. It’s the stuff of legend, lore, myth–and it’s all real. No CGI, no AI, no staged drama seeking to achieve a shallow emotional effect. Instead, it’s the human spirit put to the ultimate test on the biggest stage. And we get it in three full acts played out over three consecutive weekends in cities all over the country.

I enjoy a lot about the first-round games, but nothing gives me more joy than the HOPE which saturates those two days. Thursday morning early? Everybody’s a winner. And they all believe, as they should. Magical to witness, a privilege to behold.

So yeah, I’m pulling for my forever team, the Alabama Crimson Tide led by Nate Oats. We’re good, great on some nights, and I expect us to do at least a little damage. But I’ll enjoy the whole thing, inevitably finding myself pulling for somebody I don’t even know right now. That’s what this tourney does to hoops heads and casuals alike.

My advice? Find a huge TV with multi-view capability and burn some PTO. You can thank me later.

I bracket, therefore I remain….
